dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Tic is a disorder in which a person performs repetitive movements and conversations several times a day. Due to previous research indicating a controversy about the relationship between serum ferritin level with Tic or its severity, this study was not conducted in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and in children and adolescents in this region, in order to evaluate the relationship between serum ferritin levels and tic disorders in this age group to determine if there is a significant relationship, the context for future studies, including the effect of iron supplements on the reduction, recurrence, or severity of the disorder. Take steps to improve the lives of patients. Materials and Methods: In this study, a total number of 92 subjects were selected from the referring patients to the pediatric psychiatric clinic. After definitive diagnosis of one of the types of tic disorders based on DSM5 criteria, the ferritin test was requested for the patients. Results: The mean age of patients with tic in our study was 9.57 years. In total 22.5% were female. The mean ferritin level was 43.5 with standard deviation of 26.48 ng/ml. there was not statistical significant association between the ferritin level and duration of tic disorder, sex of the patient, and any anxiety disorder. There was a significant relationship between ferritin level and ADHD, which in subgroup analysis for sex, it was nonsignificant for females, but significant for males. In children and adolescents with tic disorders, the most common comorbidities were ADHD, any anxiety disorders, and OCD respectivelyen_US
