dc.description.abstractAs endophthalmitis is one of the complications that results from penetrating trauma and serious intraocular complications and generally leads to blindness. Accurate evaluation of the prevalence of these complications and how they can be controlled to achieve desirable clinical outcomes seems to be necessary to evaluate the prognosis of endophthalmitis disease. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and prognosis of endophthalmitis following penetrating trauma in Nikukari hospital in Tabriz in the las 5 years (2011-2016). Materials and Methods: At the first visit to Nikukari Hospital in Tabriz, patients referred to this center with various complaints, especially eye pain and endophthalmitis diagnosis in the last 5 years, completed a questionnaire, analyzed and analyzed Statistical analysis of data from questionnaires is performed to evaluate the frequency and prognosis of endophthalmitis following penetrating trauma in Nikukari hospital in Tabriz in the las 5 years (2011-2016). Results: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, 200 patients with penetrating eye trauma who referred to Nikukari hospital in Tabriz were enrolled. Prevalence of endophthalmitis following penetrating eye trauma was prevalent in 68 cases (34%). The prevalence of endophthalmitis was observed in the decade of life. The interval between trauma and endophthalmitis was 6.76±4.36 days. 74% of patients had been referred to the hospital less than 24 hours after the accident. In 23.5% of patients withen_US
