Nowadays, unintended contamination of the composite surface with latex gloves during dental restoration is one of the common problems in restorative dentistry that may have a negative effect on adhesive bond strength to dentin, followed by problems such as marginal discoloration, Secondary caries, tenderness after repair and pulpal stimulation. Since the effect of corn starch powder contamination on shear bond strength to dentin has not been investigated so far, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of of composite contamination by latex gloves with corn starch on the shear bond strength to dentin in bovine tooth. This in-vitro study was performed on 90 cavitiesof cows w, whioch were ithout caries and lesions. To bond the composite restorative material to the specimens, 90 plastic generators of diameter 3 and height 2 were made. The specimens were then divided into six groups of 15 containing two control groups (gloves without contamination), two groups of corn powder (gloves contaminated with corn powder) and two groups of talcum powder (gloves contaminated with talcum powder). Each type of group was assigned to either the 5th generation FGM Amber or 7th generation (FGM Amber universal self etch) bonding systems. For all samples, shear strength test was performed with universal testing machine. The shear force was applied to the composite and tooth bonding sites with a knife cross section of 0.5 cm2. Also, the fractures of the specimens were examined under a stereo microscope to determine the fracture pattern. Findings were compared between study groups. In both 5th and 7th generation bonding systems, latex gloves with corn powder reduced shear bond strength to dentin compared to latex gloves without powder.en_US
