dc.description.abstractSocial skills are behaviors that enables one to interact effectively and avoid the adverse responses and show behavioral health, social and psychological ones. Factors such as Non-use of the elderly’s skills, impaired social skills, indifference and neglect of the elderly reduces the level of dignity and factors such as independence, integrity and respect, discipline and doing things right is to increase the level of their dignity. methodology: To assess relation of social skills with perceived social dignity and mental health of elderly people in Mahabad, 300 participants were recruited randomize from the records file of health centers and for collection information, Reggio social skills questionnaire, Jacelon perceived social dignity and general health questionnaire (GHQ12) were used. For all tests a significance level of 0.05 was considered and statistics software SPSS version 24 and AMOS version 24 were used. Result: The results showed a significant relationship between social skills and mental health with demographic variable such as gender and age and also; There was a significant relationship between social skills and social dignity (p< 0/001). Social skills predicted 26% of social dignity among the elderly in the city of Mahabad and also Social skills predicted 16% of mental health dignity among the elderly in the city of Mahabad. Therefore, Social skills was as well as unique predictive for mental health and perceived social dignity. Conclusion: Due to the positive impact of social skills on the perceived social dignity in the172 elderly and mental health, the need for these skills in this age group is more and more felt.en_US
