The evaluation of saphenofemoral insufficiency in adult primary varicocele

Abstract

This study was conducted for patients with sapheno-femoral venous insufficiency in patients with early varicocele.Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted using descriptive-analytic method. In this study, all patients who were referred to the ultrasound center of Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz, were enrolled in a doppler ultrasound examination for varicocele examination. Patients were divided into two groups at the time of entry. The first group, 50, was a group of people who were referred to the center with a clinical diagnosis of varicocele for confirmation of ultrasound findings. Patients in group two who were 50 and age-matched with the first group were referred to the radiology center for a cause other than varicocele. Patients with varicocele were subjected to doppler sonography of scrotal vessels. Both cases (varicocele) and control (varicocele-free) after obtaining consent and permission from the patient under colon Doppler ultrasonography are classified as double-sided sapheno-femoral venous insufficiency which was considered as a positive reflux when performing Valsalva maneuver and high reflexes of 1 second in the large saphenous vein. Finally, all of the information related to this study was included in the SPSS statistical analysis program version 18 and we analyzed the data.Results: In this study, 100 patients with varicocele (or a history of varicocele) and healthy varicocele were evaluated in two groups of 50 patients. In this study, the mean age of the patients in the group with varicocele was 32.4 years. 92% of patients had unilateral varicocele involvement. The most common grade was on the left of Grade 3 grade and on the right was Grade 2 Grade. In this study, there was a significant correlation between right and left ventricular sinus affliction with varicocele incidence in patients
