Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is the most common endocrine disorder affecting 299 million people worldwide. Despite the use of advanced synthetic drugs for treatment, the use of herbal remedies becomes more important because industrial medicines have deficiencies and limitations. Aim: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of formulation of 500 mg of Galega tablets and its effect on blood sugar reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: In this study, patients with type 2 diabetes were selected and divided into two groups. The first group was given current type 2 diabetes medication under the supervision of a specialist and the second group was given these drugs plus Galega. Finally, fasting blood glucose and HbA1c and Hb A1c were measured at monthly intervals. Results: Patients receiving Galega tablets with routine diabetes mellitus had significant fasting blood sugar (p=0.029), 2 hour postprandial blood sugar (p=0.043), and glycosylated hemoglobin (p=0.048) compared to the control group receiving only diabetes control drugs. Also, the above variables were significantly different in the intervention group compared to the baseline and 6 months after the intervention, so that in the intervention group there was a significant difference in fasting blood sugar (p=0.002), blood glucose 2 hours after intervention. At the end of the third month of intervention, the level of glycated hemoglobin (p=0.010) and glycated hemoglobin (p=0.020) were significantly lower than at the beginning of the intervention. Conclusion: Galega tablets can be used as a successful and effective herbal treatment in diabetic patients with routine diabetes control medications.en_US
