The aim of this double-blind clinical trial was conducted to investigate the effect of colloid-crystalloid combination preloading on hemodynamic status of the mother after spinal anesthesia for cesarean delivery. Materials and Methods: In this prospective, randomized, and double-blind clinical trial, 100 pregnant women aged 18-40 years, ASA class I, singleton and term pregnancy, and candidate for elective cesarean delivery undergoing spinal anesthesia were studied. Before spinal anesthesia, patients of the study group (n=50) received 8 ml/kg of crystalloid-colloid combination solution and in placebo group (n=50) only the crystalloid solution was infused with the same volume over 15 minutes. Maternal hemodynamic values, total dose of vasopressor, frequency of hypotension and bradycardia, side effects of hypotension including nausea and vomiting, restlessness, unconsciousness, respiratory depression, and the Apgar score of the neonates were recorded in minutes 1 and 5 Results: The prevalence of hypotension (28% versus 54% p = 0.008) and consumption of phenylephrine (10% vs. 32%, p = 0.007) in the study group were significantly lower than placebo group and metoclopramide consumption in the treatment of nausea was significantly lower in the patients in the study group (0 vs. 8%; p = 0.041). The Apgar score of the neonates in the two groups was not significantly different (p> 0.05 in minutes 1 and 5)en_US
