dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and pattern of antibiotic administration for preventing infection after general surgery in Tabriz Sina hospital in comparison with the standard in 2017.
Materials and Methods: Information was obtained from patients hospitalized in Tabriz Sina Hospital in the General Surgery Department by completing a special checklist. The record was compared with the management plan of the Ministry of Health No. 8 or standard. Patients were included in the study, a specific instruction from the Ministry of Health was defined for them including upper gastrointestinal tract surgery and small intestinal, stomach, pancreas and hepatobiliary systems; colon resection, acute nonperforated appendicitis; resection inguinal hernia and partial and total mastectomy; Penetrating abdominal trauma.
Results: In this study, the highest frequency of prophylactic antibiotics administered during of the hospitalization was ceftriaxone and metronidazole combination 49.1% and cephazolin 48.4% and after discharge (cefixime and metronidazole) 44% and cephalexin 41 Percentage. In the present study, compliance with the standard prophylaxis of prophylaxis before surgery was 62.2%, after surgery before discharge from hospital 36.1%, and after surgery generally, 27.8% of the patients were standard. Concerning the standard duration of antibiotic administration during the hospitalization period 30.4% and the standard oral administration of antibiotics after discharging, 66.6% of patients were prescribed respectively. | en_US |
