Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of ventricular arrhythmia on in-hospital mortality and outcomes in two different reperfusion therapy: thrombolytic or PPCI (Primary percutaneous coronary intervention) methods. Methods: In this retrospective study, the records of all patients admitted to Shahid Madani Hospital with acute myocardial infarction between 1390-97 and treated with thrombolytic or primary angioplasty who developed ventricular arrhythmia during hospitalization, were extracted. Demographic, clinical, angiographic, and in-hospital complications were recorded. The two groups then compared for the above-mentioned characteristics and in-hospital outcomes including death, heart failure and re-infarction. Results: VF occurred in 97 patients who had thrombolysis and in 80 patients who had PPCI. In-hospital mortality was similar in both groups (29.8% in thrombolytic group versus 30% in PPCI group and P = 0.9). Total in-hospital outcomes were significantly lower in the thrombolytic group than in the primary angioplasty group (P <0.001).
