Abundance of High intraocular pressure and Glaucoma in Patients with Uveitis in Tabriz Nikookari Eye Hospital in past 10 years
Abstract
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the abundance of glaucoma in patients with uveitis referred to Tabriz Nikookari Hospital in the past 10 years.
Materials and Methods: Uveitis patients who had been diagnosed with glaucoma in the past 10 years and referred to the uveitis clinic of Nikookari Hospital during the year 2018 were studied. Required data were included age, patient gender, history of topical corticosteroid use. And systemic, anatomic location of uveitis including (anterior, middle, posterior and pan uveitis), esophagus (acute and chronic) and cause of uveitis (infectious, inflammatory), consumed corticosteroid (topical or systemic), interval from onset of uveitis to creation Glaucoma, primary vision and visual changes were recorded during treatment.
Results: In the present study, 93 (21%) of 441 uveitis patients referred to uveitis clinic had glaucoma. The mean age of the patients was 43.5 years and most of the patients (62.4%) were female. The most common type of uveitis was related to diffuse uveitis (33.4%) and chronic (76.3%). Etiologically, 78% was non-idiopathic and 68.8% was non-granulomatous. The anterior chamber angle was open in 82.8%. 94.6% of patients received topical corticosteroids.The mean interval between uveitis and glaucoma was 2.13 years.
