dc.description.abstract | Introduction: CO poisoning is still a public health concern especially in developing countries.
Objective: A descriptive epidemiological study of CO poisonings in Sina hospital in Tabriz in 2013-2018.
Method: The study population consisted of all patients referred to Sina Hospital in Tabriz during the years 2013 to 2018 who were studied in full. The method of data collection was that the patients referred to Sina hospital due to carbon monoxide poisoning and their records were reviewed and important factors identified and explained. Then, a questionnaire was designed to check the factors and statistical data of carbon monoxide poisoning and a questionnaire was completed for each patient. Data were analyzed using SPSS statistics17.
Results: The database of Sina hospital in Tabriz was analyzed. There were 686 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning. In adults, the majority of married women were housewives who were in the low- and middle-rate regions of the province, aged 30-40. During the first 4 years, poisoning was on the upward trend. The most common cause of poisoning was carbon monoxide with its water heater origin, with most occurring in January (23.62%) and February (18.51%).
Most are found in the cold seasons of winter, followed by autumn the cold season.
Toxicity prevention policies seem to be inadequate, but all carbon monoxide poisoning can be prevented by conducting safety principles and awareness.
Conclusions It seems that ineffective poisoning prevention policies are inadequate but that all monoxide poisoning can be prevented by conducting safety principles and awareness. | en_US |
