The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between serum levels of Vit D and Zinc with postoperative infection. Materials and Methods: 120 patients admitted to the general surgery ward of Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz who met the inclusion criteria. Serum levels of vit D and zinc were measured during routine blood sampling in case and control groups. Patients in the case group were followed up for surgical site infection after surgery. In the event of infection, its association with serum levels of vit D and zinc and comparison with the control group (patients without infection) were evaluated. Results: Serum vitamin D levels were significantly lower in patients with surgical wound infection than in the control group (without surgical wound infection) (p=0.001; 29.83±18.71 vs 43.48±16.28). Significantly lower serum zinc levels in patients with surgical wound infection than in the control group (without surgical wound infection) (p=0.006; 70.08±20.83 vs. 85.08±22.29).en_US
