Assessment of workflow status of patients requiring brain surgery intervention referred to emergency department of Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz from 2018/3/21 to 2018/3/20

چکیده
Patients with moderate to severe brain injury usually need intervention. This intervention may be noninvasive like using hyperosmolar agents or invasive like craniotomy. In both interventions, especially in craniotomy, time is important and acting as soon as possible may lead to improvement in final outcome. Considering this fact, this study has assessed workflow of patients with brain injury who came to Imam Reza hospital of Tabriz. This workflow consists time needed for first visit by emergency room physician, time needed to do first brain CT scan, final diagnosis and time for determine it and taking them to the related ward. Patients were divided to two groups by trauma history. Materials and Methods: in this study information of patients in need of craniotomy who came to Imam Reza hospital of Tabriz whose file were present were used. Check list provided by researcher was used to record information. Sampling method was including all patients with criteria to participate the study. This criteria was having emergency craniotomy and patients file accessibility. IBM SPSS Statistics v.25 was used to compare the time differences and to analyze obtained data. Results: traumatic patients’ emergency room workflow was lesser than non-traumatic patients. Time needed for the first physician visit for traumatic patients was about 4 minutes and for non-traumatic patients about 10 minutes. First CT scan time for traumatic patients was about 79 minutes and for non-traumatic patients was about 98 minutes and time period from CT scan to leaving the ER for traumatic patients was 177 minutes and for non-traumatic was 329 minutes. 5people had history of using anticoagulant and 2 people had history of coagulopathy disease.
