dc.description.abstract | Trauma is a physical disorder caused by mechanical energy when an external force affects the body. Today, trauma and its complications are the most common cause of death and disability in people aged 1-44 years. The use of various X-ray diagnostic imaging techniques, including simple X-rays, CT scans, and nuclear medicine, play an important role in screening, diagnosis and follow-up of patients.
Materials and Methods: This study was performed on 412 patients with mean age of 49.32 ± 19.8 (267 males and 145 females) from multiple trauma patients referred to Imam Reza Educational and Research Center. Information such as demographics, radiation intake, cost and final outcome in the emergency department were evaluated and statistically analyzed.
Results: 287 patient were discharged after initial measures and examinations in the emergency department and 119 of them were admitted to different departments in accordance with the required measures. Six patients died as a result of injuries. The mean radiation dose of the patients was 14.197 mSv. The average cost of paid rials was estimated to be 2314500 Rials. No significant relationship was found between dose and cost, with variables such as age and gender. | en_US |
