Introduction: Knowledge of the morphology and anatomical variation of root canal is important for root canal treatment. Studies have shown that root canal anatomy varies according to ethnic and geographic distribution. Considering the fact that there is no study on the prevalence of C-shaped canals in upper molars in Iranian population, the present study aimed to study the prevalence and classification of various C-shaped canals in maxillary molars, in Tabriz population. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on all patients referring to Radiology Department of Tabriz Dental School (313 CBCT Kiliche) who had CBCT scans. Data were entered into NNT viewer version 2.21. Martins classification system was used to classify C-shaped canals. Finally, the data were analyzed using SPSS 17 software. Results: The prevalence of C-shaped canal in the first molar teeth was 3.2% and in the second molar teeth 5.4%, which of the second left molar was 11 (3.5%) teeth of the c-shaped canal and in the first molars of the left and the second molar of the right was 6 (1.9%) of the teeth with c-shaped canal. Also in the first right molar, 4 (1.3%) teeth had c-shaped canal. Also the frequency of C-shaped canals in both women and men was in the left upper jaw higher than in the right side, and also in the second molar was more than in the first molar. Conclusion: The prevalence of C-shaped canals in the first upper molars was 3.2% and in the second upper molars, 5.4%, which is higher than in some parts of the world, but much lower than the Asian population, such as the Chinese.en_US
