Background: Brucellosis is a major zoonotic disease with worldwide distribution. The prevalence of this disease has decreased in developed countries; however, in developing countries, it is still prevalent. The aim of study was to designing and implementation of the comprehensive brucellosis prevention and control program based on PRECEED-PROCEED model in Ahar Materials and Methods: this study is a two-arm cluster randomized controlled trial with a pre-test/post-test design. Participants (n=400) were randomly selected from villages in Ahar county (n= 8 Health Houses per arm) and randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. The intervention group attended in a training program designed based on the precede-proceed. Social advocacy was support the intervention program. Predisposing factors (including variables knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy), reinforcing factors (including social support variables), enabling factors, environmental factors and behavioral model based on the prevention of brucellosis-based asked to interventions and 9 months after the intervention were measured.Data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS software version 20. Results: there isn’t statistical significant differences between intervention and control groups in mean scores of the baseline measurements for knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, environmental factors, enabling factors, behavioral factors. After the intervention program, the mean scores of investigating variables were improved significantly in intervention group compared to control group (p< 001). Conclusion: designing a brucellosis prevention and control program based on PRECEED-PROCEED model was effectively improved knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, environmental factors, enabling factors, behavioral factors in rural population through effective collaboration with strategic partners and relevant sectors. It seems the results of this study can be used as a framework for designing prevention and control program on brucellosis.en_US
