dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women and after cervical cancer, it counts the most common cancer in the world which accounts for 25% of all cancers in the world. Aim: Study of the effects of oral contraceptive use associating with other risk factors, on getting breast cancer, in Tabriz Shahid Ghazi Hospital in Tabriz in 2017. Materials and Methods: 200 patients suffering from breast cancer who referred to Shahid Ghazi hospital and blood clinics during one year were studied. Questions about whereabouts of oral contraceptive use history, type and duration of oral contraceptive use, priority of use of these contraceptives, number of children, history of breastfeeding, age at first delivery, age at first menstruation, status and menopause age, history of hormone therapy, family history of cancer, lifestyle, etc. were designed and asked. Results: Most of the studied subjects were between 40-49 years old. 43.5% of them had used oral contraceptive pills with the highest frequency for the LD pill with the frequency of 31% (p=0.099).The highest frequency of use was from 1-5 years (36.6%). The most common factor affecting the use of oral contraceptive pills was to ensure that the pills were effective at frequency of 35.6%. 94.5% of people were married and 84.5% had a history of breast feeding. The age of first pregnancy in the present study were low and 70.3% were under 30 years in the post pregnancy. 64.5% were at the first menstrual age between 12 and 14 years old while they were postmenopausal at the age of less than 50 years.Also, 23% had a family history of breast cancer.In lifestyle, 34.5% were tobacco users. Conclusion: Contrary to previous studies OCPs usage, low age at first pregnancy and the number of pregnancies were not among the factors preventing breast cancer; but first menstrual age and breast feeding were associated with breast cancer as preventing factors.en_US
