Purpose: The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of ginger extract and 0/2% chlorhexidine cleansing agents on the SBS (Shear Bond Strength) and SR (Surface Roughness)of heat cured (Molloplast B ) and auto cured(Mollosil plus) sort liners. Materials and Method: A total of 72 samples were prepared to evaluate the SBS(36 samples for Molloplast B and 36 samples for Mollosil plus). The samples in each group were subdivided in to three subgroups (one control group plus two test groups). In test groups, samples were stored in distilled water for 20 days during which each sample was immersed for 30 minutes daily in 0/2/% chlorhexidine or Ginger extract solutions. After 20 days the shear bond strengthes were determined using aUniversal Testing Machine with a 500 kg loadcell at a strain rate of 5mm/min.To evaluate the SR a total of 60 samples were prepared (30 samples for Molloplast B and 30 samples for Mollosil plus). The samples in each group were subdivide in to three subgroups. Evaluation of SR was determined in 2 periods:The first evaluation was determined one day after sample preparation, then samples immersed in distilled water for 90 days during which each sample was immersed for 15 minutes daily in chlorhexidine or ginger extract solutions.after 90 days the second evaluation was determined. (Repeated measure analysis). Results: The results showed that in both soft liners (heat cured and auto cured)the maximum amount of SBS was in control group(distilled water)and the minimum one was in chlorhexidine group. Mean SBS values measured in test groups didn’t show significant change compared with control group in both types of liners (heat cured and auto cured). Surface Roughness in Mollosil group, immersed in Ginger extract solution showed significant increase between day 1 and day 90. The SR of groups immersed in chlorhexidine solution were not statistically significant in both liner types. Conclusion: Shear Bond Strength of liners investigated in this study didn’t change after 20 days of immersion in chlorhexidine and ginger extract mouthwashes. Ginger extract solution resulted in a significant increase in SR of auto cured liner however there was not significant changes in heat cured one. Chlorhexidine solution caused no change in SR of both, heat and auto cured liners.en_US
