The aim of present study was to evaluate the CD44 and claudin-1 markers expression by immunohistochemistry on diagnosis between MCD and FSGS patients. Methods & Materials: In a descriptive-analytical study, 20 patients with FSGS, 20 patients with FSGS vs. MCD and 7 patients with MCD who referred to Imam Reza Hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and renal biopsy done for them, were included in the study. Immunofluorescence was investigated in all samples in the term of immune complex presence and paraffin cut for IHC staining was performed to evaluate CD44 and claudin-1 markers. Results: In 20 samples with a definite diagnosis of FSGS, both CD44 and claudin-1 were positive in 13 samples (65.0%), and in the 3 samples (15.0%) only the claudin-1 was positive and in 4 cases (20.0%) none of the CD44 and claudin-1 were positive. The claudin-1 was positive in 80% of cases with FSGS, 85% of cases with FSGS vs. MCD and in 100% of cases with MCD. CD44 also was positive in 65% of cases with FSGS and 10% of cases of FSGS vs. MCD, but there was no positive in any cases with MCD.en_US
