| dc.description.abstract | The tongue cancer, is one of most common Head and Neck tumors. Cigarette and alcohol , has a major role in it`s development , So with education and life style change , this lethal disease could be prevented . Treatment of tongue cancer is complex . This tumor is a really health problem . So the current study for the evaluation of therapeutic results (local control and survival ), in patients with tongue cancer after combined treatment (external radiation and brachytherapy) and brachytherapy only is done , at imam_reza hospital(Tabriz)
Materials and methods: This is a descriptive study . In this study 70 patients which was referred to radiation_oncology ward of imam_reza hospital during 2006-2016 was recorded , and had been followed up . For statiscal analysis and evaluation of the correlation between qualitative parameters with local control and survival , Kaplan-meir estimator was used and for evaluation of quantitive parameters with the local control and survival , spearman correlation was used.
Results: During time period of 2006-2016,70 pateints with tongue cancer which was referred to radiation_oncology ward and had eligibility criteria , enrolled in the study. 52.9% of pateints were male and 47.1%were female . The most common anatomic location of tumor was in right lateral border of tongue . In all pateints , histologic type of cancer was SCC (77.1% well differentiated , 22.9% moderate differentiated).
After collecting data , from follow up charts and statistical analysis , the 5 years survival rate , 78.5% and local control rate , 78.5% is calculated. | en_US |
