dc.description.abstract | Abstract: Introduction: Violence against women is one of the most common health problems in the world. According to World Health Survey, one-third of women have experienced violence. Most of women tolerate violence, and do not seek to disclose, help, or even treat their complications. Recent studies have suggested as one of this causes is a kinds of stigma surronding domestic violence. Recent research has suggested that emotional intelligence is a protective factor for aggression and violence. The purpose of this study was to determine prevalence of domestic violence and its relationship with domestic violence stigma and emotional intelligence in married women referring to Marand city health centers in 1396-1397.
Materials and Methods: This study was performed on 547 women who referred to Marand city health centers through easy sampling. Data were collected using CTS2, shrinking and PVSS questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics including percentage, mean and analytical statistics including independent t-test, chi-square, ANOVA, linear regression, Pearson and Spearman correlation test using SPSS 21 software.
Results: According to the findings, the prevalence of domestic violence was 98.5%. Regardless of the negotiation dimension, maximum and minimum prevalence was 75.3%, 10.5% in psychologicaland and injury dimensions respectively. The mean(standard deviation( of emotional intelligence in women was 103.64(14.46) and stigma of domestic violence was 23.94(8.540. The variables of income adequacy and marital satisfaction were the predictors for most dimentions of violence. The components of emotional intelligence, except social skills, were related to general domestic violence and its dimensions, except for negotiation. The variables of male and female education, female occupation and marital satisfaction had a significant relationship with emotional intelligence and stigma of domestic violence . The mean of stigma of domestic violence in women without / under domestic violence, was not statistically significant, except dimention of injury.
Discussion and Conclusion: Considering the high prevalence of violence, preventive measures are needed. Given the relationship between emotional intelligence and domestic violence, with the promotion of emotional intelligence in women and even men, domestic violence can be reduced. Reducing the stigma of domestic violence can provide a way for victims to reach health services and, subsequently, to improve the health of the victims. | en_US |
