dc.description.abstract | Abstract: Background: This study aim to describe organizational and occupational commitment of nurses and nurse managers. A little research-based data are available on the organizational commitment but studies of occupational commitment not found in Iran. The commitment of nurses is a worldwide concern which is necessary to describe their commitment and what keep them committed in nursing and hospitals.
Methods: This is a descriptive study in which 360 nurses and 77 nurse managers participated. The data collected through the Allen and Meyer organizational and occupational commitment questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics (SD and the mean), Pearson, t test and ANOVA with SPSS.17 s/w.
Results: The participants’ age were 37 ±4.03 years, with a gender distribution of 96.11% female and 3.89% male. The nurses’ and nurse managers’ organizational commitment scores are 4.5 ±0.3 and 4.5 ±0.5 and occupational commitment scores are 4.9 ±0.3 and 4.8 ±0.7 respectively. The participants’ organizational and occupational commitment scores in various sub scales have a significant difference in relation to the nurses’ marital status, education status, job satisfaction, and the ward that they work.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, With respect to the middle scores of the organizational and occupational commitment, plans and interventions should be adopted regarding the asserted commitment and its promotion among them, particularly with regard to continuance and normative commitment. | en_US |
