dc.description.abstractAbstract: Introduction: Nursing error means neglecting guarding standards which are based on health ministry criteria. Nurses are responsible for a noticeable number of invasive procedures of neonates hospitalized in neonatal intensive care unit and making error has risen in guarding endangered Neonates. Purpose: The purpose of this study is determining the type and rate of nursing errors in gastric tube insertion of preterm neonates and gastric gavage through it in neonatal intensive care unit in Sanandaj in 2013. Methodology: It is a descriptive study. The subjects were 28 employed nurses in neonatal ICU of educational hospitals and Tamin Ejtemaei hospital in Sanandaj in 2013. The instrument was a researcher-made one. The data were gathered through direct observations of nurses by the researcher. Each nurse was observed four times randomly in the morning, evening and night shifts. The data were analyzed through SPSS software version 13. Findings: The findings showed that the most common error in gastric tube insertion of preterm neonates is related to implementation stage, registration stage, and preparation stage respectively. The most common error in gavage procedure of preterm Neonates is related to registration stage, implementation stage and preparation stage respectively. Nursing error in gastric tube insertion is 49 percent and in tube feeding is 48 percent. Conclusion: These errors can be prevented to a large degree by changing and improving the educational process and through an educational planning by officials of nursing education.en_US
