Abstract
Introduction: The best prosthesis are those that have maximum similarity to the missing member. Color is one of the most important factors in the beauty of dental prosthesis and the materials used in prostheses should have a good color stability. The aim of this study was to investigate the color changes of three types of acrylic teeth (Italian Ivoclar, BStar Iran and BetaDent Iran) in three different beverages. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, from each brand of acrylic teeth, 10 samples were immersed for one week in each beverages(tea, orange juice, carrot juice) and distilled water (control group). The color renders were measured before and after dipping using a spectrophotometer and the amount of color change was calculated. The above steps were repeated with the same sample number for a period of 30 days. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using appropriate statistics. Results: After 7 days, the Ivoclar brand (1.78) and BStar brand (3.39) had the most color change(P <0.05). After 30 days, the Ivoclar brand (3.03) and BetaDent (4.27) had the highest color change(P <0.05). After 7-day, carrot juice, orange juice and tea, respectively, produced the most and the least color change. After 30 days, carrot juice had the most color change(P <0.05), but the difference in color of orange juice and tea was similar(P> 0.05). Conclusion: Different types of beverages have defferent types of color change in different brands of acrylic teeth. In general, the Ivoclar brand had a lesser color change than the BStar and BetaDent brands. In the first week, all three brands and within 30 days, the Ivoclar brand and BStar had a clinically acceptable color change.
