dc.description.abstractThe overall aim of this study is to evaluate the viewpoints of research assistants of clinical groups and graduating medical students in Tabriz medical school about the causes of students' research errors during dissertation writing process and prevention methods. Methods and materials:In this descriptive cross-sectional study, the views of the research assistants of clinical groups and graduating students were questioned through the available sampling method. The study population was comprised of 121 graduating students and 11 research assistantsof clinical groups. The data gathering tool was a common questionnaire for both groups whose validity and reliability was confirmed. The findings were compared in terms of the relative frequency distribution. Results:The data indicated that among the causes leading to the study errors, the most the most agreeing to "short time by doing research" was with 81.8% of the approval by graduating students. The following causes were related to "The need for medical intervention or patient visit", and "the Need to collect information from patient records" that were agreed with 78.5% and 77.7% respectively. Graduating students and research assistants often agreed to "Adding a single course for familiarizing with the general principles of writing and dissertation development" and "Teaching research ethics to students" as research misconduct prevention strategies.en_US
