Pressurized lesions typically occur in the first two weeks of hospitalization and progress over time. In these types of ulcers with skin peel, bacteria accumulate in dead tissues. With more necrosis caused by pressure, the infection develops into deeper structures. Due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and antimicrobial effects, the plant can be effective in wound healing. Aim: Investigating the possibility of using Alkanna Tinctoria extract in the treatment of squamous lesions Material and methods: . In this study, 60 patients were enrolled in the Sina hospital during the one-year period of September 1996 to September 97. Patients were divided into two groups of control and treatment with topical preparations of Alkanna tinctoria, based on condition and in approximately equal proportions. Continuous follow-up was done through a biography and a clinical examination. The results were analyzed by non-parametric Mann whitney test. Results: . This study was performed on 36 men and 24 women. Patients treated with ointment had better therapeutic response than the control group. The recovery time also decreased. Discussion: In a group of 30 patients, the patients were treated with formulation, in the other group of 30 patients, they received the usual treatment for Sina Hospital. Finally,in the control group, the rate of complete recovery was 26.7% and in the treatment group it was 60%. The recovery time also decreased with formulations (respectively, control and treatment, 16.17 days, 7.07 days, respectively). These differences were statistically significant and showed that the efficacy of the prepared formulations is higher than that of conventional methods (serum, mupirocin, camphil, phenytoin, and matrix)en_US
