Chronic morphine consumption (along with its tolerance and dependence) has been shown to increase the activity of glial cells, and production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as TNFα, interleukins, and produce derived cyclooxygenase activity. This is probably one of the mechanisms of morphine dependency. Marrubium vulgare probably reduce morphine withdrawal syndrome due to its inhibitory effect on glial cell production of cyclooxygenase proudest. Aim: The aim of this dissertation was to evaluate the effect of Marrubium vulgare extract in preventing the development of dependence and reducing the withdrawal symptoms of morphine in male rats. Method : The methanolic extracts was obtained from the aerial parts of the plant. Experiments were conducted on male rats weighing 225-275 g. For induction of dependence, a 9-day subcutaneous injection of morphine weight twice a day was used, and the injection of naloxone )4 mg / kg, i.p. (was performed on the 9th day and symptoms of withdrawal syndrome were recorded for 60 minutes. In groups treated with Marrubium vulgare, the extract was injected in three doses (10.20, 40 mg / kg, i.p. ) one hour after morning injection of morphine for 8 days. Naloxone (4mg / kg, i.p.) on day 9 and the signs of withdrawal syndrome were recorded for 60 minutes. Results : Intraperitoneal injection of Marrubium vulgare extract at a dose of 20 mg/kg significantly (p <0.001) reduced the total morphine withdrawal syndrome in male rats compared to the morphine recipient group. Conclusion: The results showed that Marrubium vulgare extract had beneficial effects in reducing symptoms of morphine withdrawal.en_US
