Abstract: Introduction: Nurses are faced with many job stresses in the workplace, which affect their physical mental general health and efficacy. Any type of harm to nurses’ general health imposes irreversible damages to quality of care provided for patients. The current research was conducted to evaluate the dimensions of job stress and its relationship with general health and self-efficacy of nurses working in teaching hospitals in the city of Tabriz. Materials and Methods:The present research is correlational- descriptive studies. Research studies. Research participants included 400 nurses working in different units of 8 teaching hospitals of Tabriz, selected using proportional random sampling method. Job stress questionnaire HSE, general health questionnaire (GHQ) and self-efficacy (GSE) were used as tools to collect the data. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS21 software. Finding:The results showed that 53% of nurses had low job stress. In general health survey, 68.8% of nurses were in Desired condition and 78% had low self-efficacy. Also the Spearman correlation test results showed an indirect correlation between job stress and self-efficacy, that is, higher job stress is related with lower self-efficacy (P<0.05).Also, the findings showed that there was no statistically significant correlation between job stress and general health. Discussion and Conclusion: Based on the research findings, nurses had the highest level of job stress in dimensions of change and relationship among the employees. Thus, it indicates that managers to take steps to reduce the job stress before any change in the workplace through satisfying and justifying employees, teaching the skills required to change, and making them involved in decision making, so that they can enhance the quality of care provided for patients and enhance the health status of the nurses. Also Authorities should pay greater attention to important variables such as self-efficacy during recruitment. It is also recommended that authorities hold training classes and workshops on improving self-efficacy, so as to provide conditions for improving the quality of nursing care, which is the main objective in the nursing profession.en_US
