dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between functional thyroid test and IBD. Methods and materials: In a retrospective study, all patients referred to IBD clinic of Imam Reza Hospital were evaluated. Demographic data included age and sex, duration of illness, and severity of disease and blood levels of TSH, Free T3, Free T4,and Anti TPO Ab were recorded. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Ver. 20. Results: A total of 156 patients including 103 female and 53 male were enrolled in the study. The mean age of the subjects was 40.71±13.07 month and the average period of the disease was 48.17±14.68 month, and Mayo score was 5.48 ± 2.59. In terms of severity, 15.4% of the patients were mild, 59.6% moderate, and 25% at the remission stage. 10.7% of male and 5.7% of female were hypothyroidism and 1.9% of men were hyperthyroid. The mean TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 levels in the euthyroid group were 2.13±0.82, 0.92±0.11, and 0.43±0.36, respectively, and in the thyroid dysfunction group, were 38.60±25.82, 0.47±0.40 and 2.06±0.98, respectively. There was no significant difference between age, gender, course of illness, severity of IBD and Mayo score in both groups.en_US
