dc.description.abstractBehçet's disease is a rare systemic vasculitis With unknown etiology. This disease causes recurrent attacks of oral aphthous, genital ulcers and eye lesions. Clinical manifestations of the acute inflammation are usually limited, but the frequent recurrence of these inflammatory episodes can cause different complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the factors associated with prognosis and remission in patients with Behcet's Disease. Materials and Methods: This study included 137 patients with a diagnosis of Behcet's disease. Patients' information were collected by a questionnaire prepared by the researcher. Patients were divided into two categories, with remission and without remission. The patients with remission were also divided into two groups of drug free remission and remission with drugs. Data were analyzed by SPSS statistical software. Results: Of the 137 studied patients, 80 were males and 57 were females. The mean age of the patients at the time of diagnosis of Behcet's disease was 39.8 ± 10.7 years. The mean duration of disease before diagnosis of Behcet's disease was 62.1 ± 24.1 months. The average year of education was 8.3 ± 5.7 years. Of the 137 patients studied, oral aphthous ulcer was observed in 130 patients (94.9% of patients), genital ulcer in 78 patients (56.9% of patients), uveitis in 69 patients (50.4% of patients), skin lesions in 39 patients (29.2% of patients), positive pathergy test (28.5% of patients), musculoskeletal system involvement in 36 patients (26.3% of patients), vascular involvement in 22 patients (16.1% Patients), central nervous system involvement in 5 patients (6.3% of patients), digestive tract disorder in 3 patients (2.2% of patients), epididymitis in 3 patients (2.2% of patients).The mean duration of follow up was 54.3 ± 22.5 months.en_US
