dc.description.abstractAbstract: Background & objectives: Nurses in hospitals has numerous tasks. A major role of the nurse is caring role, for some reason may be during a shift part or all of it will be missed or delayed.This study aimed to determine the prevalence of missed nursing care and its causes from the perspective of nurses and its relationship with job satisfaction in neonatal intensive care units of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences hospitals. Methods: In this descriptive - correlational study with census sampling method, all of the nurses in neonatal intensive care units of Al- Zahra, Taleghani and children hospitals related to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, which has had at least 6 months work experience and a bachelor's degree, Were investigated. Data were collected by Data were collected by questionnaire about nurses care tasks per shift, questionnaires reason for miss care and Fild & Roth questionnaire to evaluate job satisfaction. The collected data were analyzed with software SPSS16. Results: In this study of 96 nurses investigated, 63.8% report that they have missed care during the last shift. Average number of missed care was 3.78 care in a shift and most missed care were: psychological support program for parents (34.41%), on time carry out the proposed oral feeding (30.9%), Central Care Protocol (28.7%) and developmental supportive care, care in the nest - skin care (27.7%) respectively. causes for nursing missed care from the perspective of nurses interviewed were Acuity of work (95%), increase the number of patients uncompromised (92%), parents unprepared to learn (91%), difficulty in use of electronic devices to record care (90.7%) and lack of access to required medicines (6/90%) were cited more important.Average job satisfaction score of 95 was 38.83. We showed no significant differences between the average number of missed care in one shift with demographic variables, nurses job history and nurses' job satisfaction. Conclusions: NICU nurses per shift part of their duties forgotten or delayed doing. High volume and acuity of nursing jobs, lack of enough manpower and difficult to use electronic devices to register the performed care are the most important reasons for nursing miss care in the neonatal intensive care unit.en_US
