dc.description.abstractThis study aim to describe Iranian nurses organizational commitment. A little research-based data are available on the organizational commitment among nurses in Iran. The commitment of nurses is a worldwide concern which is necessary to describe their commitment and what keep them committed in nursing and hospitals. This is a descriptive study in which 360 Iranian nurses participated. The data collected through the Allen and Meyer organizational commitment questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics (SD and the mean), Pearson, t test and ANOVA with SPSS.17 s/w.The participants' age were 37 ±4.03 years, with a gender distribution of 96.11% female and 3.89% male. The nurses' organizational commitment score is 4.5 ±0.3. The participants' organizational commitment scores in various sub scales have a significant difference in relation to the nurses' marital status, education status, job satisfaction, and the ward that they work. Based on the findings of this study, With respect to the middle scores of the nurses organizational commitment, plans and interventions should be adopted regarding the asserted commitment and its promotion among them, particularly with regard to continuance and normative commitment. © Euro Journals Publishing, Inc. 2012.
