Colloid cyst of the third ventricle is a known primary brain tumor. The familial occurrence of this cyst and associated conditions has been rarely discussed in the literature. To our knowledge only 10 affected families have been previously reported in the literature. We report the 11th family with this potentially life-threatening tumor and discuss the associated conditions and, existing controversies and plan screening strategies. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
