Mathematical representations reported by Sun and coworkers for the modified version of the combined nearly ideal binary solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister model are carefully examined in regards to the model's ability to predict the solubility of beta-alanine dissolved in binary solvent mixtures and some recommendations were proposed. In addition, the preferential solvation parameter of beta-alanine by the cosolvents in their binary aqueous mixtures were computed and discussed in details. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V.
