The aim of present study is to investigate the solubilization behavior and thermodynamics of clotrimazole (CLO) in the binary mixtures of ethanol and water within the temperature range, T = (293.2-313.2) K, by employing a shake-flask method. The generated solubility data are mathematically represented by using four cosolvency models (i.e. van't Hoff equation, Yalkowsky-Roseman model, Jouyban-Acree model and Jouyban-Acree-van't Hoff model). The models performance for correlative studies is illustrated by mean relative deviations (MRD). Moreover, apparent thermodynamic properties of CLO dissolution process in the investigated mixed solvents including entropy, enthalpy and Gibbs free energy are calculated using van't Hoff and Gibbs equations. Finally, preferential solvation of CLO by the mixture components based on the inverse Kirkwood-Buff integrals method is also analyzed. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
