| dc.description.abstract | Prevention of more attachment loss and complete and predictable regeneration of tissue loss as a result of in fection or trauma is the goal of periodontal therapy. Various graft materials and different surgical techniques have been used in the treatment of intrabony defects. Methods and Meterial: 11 Randomized Controlled Trials with at least 6 month duration which study the effect of PRP in the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects were chosen by manual searching of periodontal journals and also Medline . In each of them 4 clinical parameters including PD, CAL, GR, and Defect fill were measured in test and control groups at baseline and after surgery. The results were analyzed by t-test. Results: The differences between the experimental and control groups were statistically significant in favor of the experimental defects for pocket depth reduction , clinical attachment level gain and defect fill. But no statistically significant difference in gingival recession was observed between the two groups. Conclusion: Since there was no significant difference in gingival recession between the two groups, the reduction in probing depth is the result of the gain in clinical attachment level which is related to the bone fill . The results show that PRP application in regenerative treatment of periodontal intrabony defects effectively improves the clinical parameters. | |
