dc.description.abstractNowadays, carbamide peroxide is the most common material used for teeth bleaching. Because of the probability of this material contact with amalgam restoration in oral cavity, the aim of this In vitro study was to compare mercury release from amalgam restorations with different Ag content after treating with 15% carbamide peroxide. Materials and Methods: Dental amalgam(ANA -Nordiska Dental-ANgelholm-Sweden )with Ag content of 43.1% and 69.3% were used to prepare 60 amalgam discs (n=30 for each group). From each group, 15 specimens randomly were sealed in glass tubes containing 3 ml 15% carbamied peroxide and the other remaining 15 specimens sealed in tubes cantaining 3 ml buffer p Hosp Hate ( control group). After 48h, mercury release in each tube was measured by mercury analysis system.( Shimadzu- Japan - MAS10). Data was analyzed by one way analysis of variance and Tukey`s post- hoc test. Results: Mercury release increased significantly in dental amalgam with 43% Ag contect treated with carbamide peroxide .However in dental amalgam with 43% Ag content treated with carbamaide peroxide mercury release slightly decreased. Conclusions: releasing mercury from dental amalgam exposed to carbamaide peroxide 15% affected by silver content of dental amalgam.
