dc.description.abstractDespite the increasing development in medicine science and knowledge of trauma as well as access of physicians to modern diagnostic and treatment methods and tools, the plenty of maxillofacial fractures throughout the country and referring of patients in order to treatment even in simple cases from small cities to great ones (e. g Tabriz), necessitate providing exact statistic on fractures level of facial third medial in different locations of Iran in order to therapeutic and learning planning. Thus, the subject of the present study is to determine causes and pattern of facial third medial fractures on patients referring to Emam Reza hospital, Tabriz Materials and methodology: The present research is a retrospective and cross-sectional study which is conducted on 158 patients who during 5 years (since early 1387 to end 1391) suffered from third medial facial fractures and in the questionnaires the data of patients include in the file, introduced and the remaining side effects following treatment during 2 months is determined. Following reading of total available files, the questionnaire data is set as tables and analyzed by SPSS16 software. Findings In this study, it was determined that, the referred patients mostly were male (83. 5%) and the highest level of fractures were between (25-30 years old) (30%) and the major cause of them was accident 67. 1% as well as the most common area of fracture was cheek 68. 4% and the more injure was to eyes and sensory nerve disorder 62. 7%, and about 77. 8% were treated by ORLF method. The most comment side effect following surgery was in the patient RION by 49. 2%. Conclusion: The study shows that, having adequate knowledge about the common cause of fracture could help, to decrease and remove damages and side effects along with treatment
