Lichen planus ia a chronic mucocutaneous and relatively widespread disease that impresses oral mucosa but it can affect any part of the body. The subject is that whether there is possibility of malignancy changes or not. For the first time the possibility of malignancy changes was reportet in 1910.P53 is a tumor suppressor that regulates apoptosis after DNA damage by mutant factors in order to do tahat, it stops cell cycle and repairs DNA. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive-analytic study. The population studied were parafinated blocks of patients afflicted to oral lichen planus that their diagnosis have been confirmed by clinical and pathological methods. The IHC coloring stages were done based on the manufacturer's instructions(code;M7052 Dako,Glostrup Denmark). Data gained from the first and second aims were analyzed by the descriptive statistical way and Wilkokson test and by SPSS.16 software. Findings: The average of samples had 35.7+16 and the youngest was 15 and the oldest was 78.The average of P53 expression in diseased tissue was more than healthy tissue. Results: The rate of expression of P53 in afflicted tissue is more than peripheral normal tissue(P-value <0.0.5).
