dc.description.abstractworld health organization makes use of different indexes so as to determine the oral health status among the countries and to compare one another among which DMFT is the most important one known as decayed teeth average, filled and missed due to decaying in diverse age frequency falling into 12 year-old range. The current study aims to determine DMFT/dmft index of 6, 9 and 12 years old kids. Method: 324 students were chosen randomly in order to be studied in this research. The study employed the questionnaire as the main instrument to collect the data. Results: the average of DMFT is 3.32 and 3.54 for 9 and 12 years old kids, respectively. Also, the average of dmft is 1.21 and 0.92 for 9 and 12 years old kids, respectively. There is no statistical difference between 9 and 12 years old groups in terms of DMFT average (P-value>0.05). There is statistical difference in 6 years old group and 9 as well as 12 years old group in terms of dmft average. In addition, dmft average in 6 years old group is higher than dmft average in 9 and 12 years old group (P-value<0.05). Also, there is no statistical difference between dmft and DMFT average between male and female groups (P-value>0.05). Conclusion: according to the division provided by world health organization, 9 and 12 years old kids of Jolfa fall into the category of medium DMFT, however, 9 and 12 years old kids of Tabriz fall into the category of high DMFT.
