Determining the distance between Anterior Attachment of Lingual Frenum and incisal edge of the mandibular incisors to adjust the occlasal rims for complate denture

Abstract

Occlusion rims are essential for determining the vertical dimension of occlusion and horizontal jaw relationship and inter occlusal distance in edentolus patients. There is no meticulous approach for determination of these subjects. So that is Important to find way to adjust occlusion rims. Purpose: The purpose of this inquiry is to determining the meticulous distance between floor of mouth to incisal edges of mandibular incisors to be an instruction for adjustment of occlusion rims. Method and material: Forty partially edentolus patient (20men, 20weman) were selected. Mandibular casts were made from impression taken by custom trays. The vertical distance between the anterior attachment of lingual frenum and incisal edge of mandibular central incisors was measured on the surveyor in 0.01 millimeter. Results: The mean of distance in 40 patient was 14.35mm, from the minimum 10.2mm to maximum 17.02mm . The mean of the distance in male was 15.42 and in female was 13.28mm. the T-test shows a semantic difference between male and female. The mean of distance is grater in male in comparison to female. Conclusion: The distance between the anterior attachment of lingual frenum and incisal edge of mandibular central incisors, can be a reasonable standard in adjustment of occlusion rims. This distance in male is about 15.42mm and in female is about 13.28mm
