Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common malignancy of oral cavity. Grading and Staging are the most prognostic factor in oral SCC. Among the host immune cells, a role has been suggested for mast cell in tumor progression via promoting angiogenesis. Materials and Methods. Mast cell counts and microvessel counts were investigated in paraffin-embedded specimens of 87 cases of oral SCC. Mast cell count and microvessel count were examined by anti-CD 34 and anti mast cell tryptase according IHC technique. Mast cell counts and microvessel counts were evaluated in 5 HPF in peripheral and inside the tumors. Data were analyzed with T-test, ANOVA, Tu key and Spirman coefficient by SPPS/16 soft ware. Results. There was correlation between mast cell counts and microvessel counts. There were positive relation between mast cell counts and microvessel counts with Stage and Grade. Mast cells counts and microvessel counts could predict cervical lymph node involvement. Conclusion. Mast cells may up regulate tumor angiogenesis in oral SCC and have significant role in progress of tumors.
