Abstract

Premature graying of hair is involved as a serious factor in human social interactions and on the other hand, considering that by identifying the factors involved in this disease, we can try to prevent them; Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the frequency of mental disorders in young people with premature graying of hair. Materials and Methods This cross-sectional descriptive study was performed in Sina Hospital (Tabriz-Iran) during 2019-2020 with the participation of 200 patients with premature graying of hair by counting sampling method. Participants completed a demographic information form, white hair information, and the SCL90 Mental Disorders Questionnaire. Data were entered in SPSS18 software and compared with relevant tests. P value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results Among those referred to the skin and hair clinic, the prevalence of premature graying of hair was 0.98%; There is also a statistically significant relationship between premature graying of hair with depression (P=0.009), self-morbidity (P=0.003) and anxiety (P=0.013).
