Abstract

Introduction Due to the increasing number of elderly population in the world and Iran, the topic of life satisfaction of this group has been the focus of researchers. Quality of life in the elderly is affected by several factors , Attention to variety of anxieties, especially death and aging anxiety in elderly, greatly affects their quality of life, However, social support can improve the quality of life. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between perceived social support and anxiety of "aging and death" with quality of life in the elderly. methodology: To investigate the relationship between perceived social support and anxiety of "aging and death" with quality of life in the elderly, 450 elderly people living in Bukan who had family records in health centers were selected and included in the study. Questionnaires were used for data collection: CASP12 Quality of Life Questionnaire Version 12 of the Wiggins et al, Questionnaire, Perceived Social Support by Zimet et al, Arabian Death Anxiety Questionnaire (ASDA) and Lashkarov Folkender Aging Anxiety Questionnaire. For all tests the significance level was 0.05 and SPSS22 software was used. Result: Results of multiple regression showed ,Social support, death anxiety and aging anxiety variables were significant predictors of quality of life in the elderly. Also, there was a significant and direct correlation (p <0.05) between the variables of quality of life with social support and death anxiety with aging anxiety, Also, there was asignificant and negative relationship (p <0.001) between the variables of aging anxiety and death anxiety with quality of life. Conclusion:This study demonstrates the importance of the determinants of social support, stress and anxiety, aging, death in the elderly And it is a confirmation of the consideration and consideration of these factors, On the other hand, increasing social support can help to improve the quality of life of elderly.
