Frequency of fever and neutropenia in patients undergoing pelvic Radiotherapy

Abstract

Today Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy acting a major role in treatment of Malignancies. The importance of Radiotherapy in Pelvic Solid Tumours (PST) is undeniable. Chemoradiation for PST use as Adjvant or Neoadjvant therapy. Methods: In this cohort study 51 patient who was treated by Chemoradiation because of PST followed for a week. We used their Body temperature (BT) and the changes of their Neutrophils count after treatment. Study Data’s accumulated by patient's weekly Complete Blood Count Diff (CBC diff). Results: In this study, after analysing the obtained data, it was observed that only 10 patients with fever (19.6%) and 13 patients with neutropenia (25.5%), Only 3 patients (5.8%) had concomitant fever and neutropenia. In other words, changes in body temperature following radiotherapy were not significant, while changes in neutrophil count, lymphocytes and platelets were significant.
