Abstract

Objective Suicide is a well-recognized public health challenge that causes the loss of many potential years of life and has substantial economic and emotional costs, disrupting families, communities, and society, broadly ramifying sadness and loss. Annual attempted and committed suicide rate among Iranian women is high but underlying mechanisms in different socio-cultural subgroups were not fully understood. This study was conducted to provide suicidal behavior predictors and display relationships between the incorporated components based on the concept analysis model. Methods study is mix-method (quantitative- qualitative ) which was planned based on the explanatory sequential and was conducted in Abdanan a city located in the Ilam province, in the west of Iran from December 2013 to July 2014. The questionnaire on attitudes towards suicide (ATTS) was used to measure suicide related attitudes and thoughts. Group discussion, interview the Delphi technique was used for data collection in section qualitative Results Based on the study findings in section quantitative “communication problems” was the only exogenous factor that indicate a direct effect on the general acceptance of suicide by the studied women and In section qualitative the area Deprivation and family violence important Factors in suicide attempt been reported. Conclusions While communication problem could potentially predict having a positive approach towards suicide in the studied sample but interplaying contextual factors and other coexisted empirical referents need to be further studied.
